Finding Forward: You Have the Will Within
Releasing October 12, 2021
“Finding forward is different for every person who is dealing with a disability. What’s important is finding out how you can live your life in a brand new way”
On July 9, 2012, the old Jeffrey Morse died on the operating table, and a new one emerged. In his memoir, Morse shares his inspiring story of surviving an aneurism, a dissected artery, a stroke, and paralysis—all near-death experiences that forever changed his life and taught him perseverance.
While not all trauma is physical and not all isolation occurs because of trauma, Morse learned through these setbacks how to endure, how to heal, and how to “find forward.” His unbreakable optimism inspires others and leads him into daredevil stunts that leave readers on the edge of their seats. Although he no longer serves as a pilot in the air force, Morse’s adventures after his accident include scuba diving, surviving a car crash, visiting Paris, and taking a helicopter to the summit of Mount Everest in Nepal. Morse invites readers to imagine with him the sensations of neck-down paralysis amid his attempts to live a new life.
Despite pain, depression, anxiety, and his doctors losing faith that he would ever lead a normal life again, Morse has striven to overcome his paralysis through rigorous physical therapy. Learning to move without a wheelchair and tie his shoelaces independently, Morse has recovered the use of nearly all his muscles through his unfaltering determination to survive immense pain. Although he will never be the same, Morse has regained his life by finding a way to move forward.
